Hello everyone,
I just had a question on what the technical name of changing time into decimals is called.

For example 1 hour 15 mins is 1.25, 1 hour 30 mins is 1.50, 1 hour 45 mins is 1.75. So on and so forth. 2 hours 32 mins is 2.53.

The formula in excel from two cells (one with Hours and one with Mins) is
=((A2*60)+B2)/60

However, I do not know the technical name of this time conversion. Is there a name for it?

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
What you need to understand about dates and times in excel is…

a date is just a number representing the number of days passed since 1/1/900...and then formatted in a way that we recognize as a date. So, for instance, today (Mon 23 Oct 2017) is actually 43031

Time is actually a decimal part of 1 (day), so 06:00 AM is 0.25, 12 noon is 0.5 and 18:00 (or 6 PM) is 0.75

So, having said that, if TIME is entered correctly, 1 hr 15 minutes (1:15 AM) is actually 0.000868056

When working with time, it is almost always better to work with actual (real) time, rather than using whole numbers to "represent" time
