Time formula needed

Hi

Can anyone please help with this fromula I need to be able to display

06:00 Start time
12:30 Finish Time
equals 8.5 total hours worked

The current formula that is being used is:
06:00 Start Time
12:30 Finish Time
equals 8.30 total hours worked
the formula in place is simple
finish time - start time = total hours worked

=(finishtime-starttime)*24

and then go format cell > number

(p.s. in your example the answer is 6.5 not 8.5)
