i have a "IF" statement that if satisfied will enter in today's date and time. problem is that the time is volatile and keeps getting updated whenever there is a change to the spreadsheet anywhere. how do i format the time so that it doesn't continuously update?

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
warpedone:
NOW() is volatile.

BTW, you should use "" to return nothing, not space.

mickdodge:
You will need VBA for this, what range do you want this to happen on, what is the condition?
