Time question

If I have the time midnight (00:00) in cell A1, 23:00 in B1 and 06:00 in C1....what formula could I put in cell D1 that would tell me if A1 fell between the two times in B1 & C1?
thanks for any help!
 
Grd....thanks for your explanation of the time. I knew most of that, but hadn't come up with anything like Barry give me at the time. What I ended up doing was making the End time come from the Start time by using this formula
=B1+(8*(1/24)) so the End time would always be greater than the Start. Then I was able to solve the problem. I really appreciate everyone's help and input and I learned alot searching for an answer for this one! Now I have a much better understanding of how Excel handles time.
