Hi,
I need help to insert a date macro into a cell, with two conditions
On active cell if the macro is run, the macro should return today's date in this format "dd-mmm:". However if this macro is tried on a cell which already has any data, it should throw a prompt saying "please select an empty cell"

Appreciate any help on this

Thanks

Try

Code:
Sub test()
If ActiveCell.Value <> "" Then
    MsgBox "Please select an empty cell", vbInformation
Else
    With ActiveCell
        .NumberFormat = "dd-mmm:"
        .Value = Date
    End With
End If
End Sub
