Hello,

I need to work out how to do a negative time, or transfer a time to a decimal to create a Positive or negative representation of time to work out my TOIL.

My current formula is

total hours worked per week subtract 50 (The hours I'm contracted to do).

Say I work 45 hours one week my TOIL would be -5 hours. this also needs to be transferable from week to week. so if I worked 55 hours the following week my TOIL would be 0

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Will

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Hi Will,

The Excel date format doesn't allow for negative values, but you should be able to achieve what you are looking to do with basic running total calculations and normal decimal numbers (SUM, etc.). Please be more specific about your desired outcome - an example of a few rows would be helpful.

Good Luck!

Or transform the times values into decimals ( = time *24). You can display negative times in excel if you select the 1904 date system option, but I'd just use decimals.
