too many cell formats error message

Hi,

I have inherited a large spreadsheet. When trying to amend/add information I receive the error message "too many cell formats" which has lead to problems opening the file.

In order to add rows & additional info I have removed all formatting from each sheet within the file, however, I am still getting the error message when I then try to add any formatting to the file.

How can I resolve this?
