I have received the above message on a workbook, and i am un willing to touch the Spreadsheet to much in case this happens again when i try to open the doc. (this is an important spreadsheet)

It is more than possible that i have 4000 different formats, however i am looking for a way to find out how many exactly i have used... is this posisble?

Also what is the best way to fix this? or lower the number used? i have read somewhere that even if you get rid of formats already used so they are no longer in use, the format is still stored by excel, so it does not actually lower the number of formats you have used... is this correct???

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".

Yes i have seen this, it doesnt help me an awful lot, my workbook has over 20 tabs, and it is difficult to see where cell have duplicate formats throughout. It would be good to see a number of how many cell formats i have, and when i change something i can run the macro again to see if the number decreases or not
