Dear Valuable member,
Is there any tool or add in that can help us to understand the complex formula in excel.
i.e it shows the step by step return value of the each argument of the function.

Please advise!

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
There is some tools (or at least 1) but i think the best way is to use the built-in Function Wizard:
Select the cell with the complicated formula.
Press the fx button (left of the formula bar).
Now you should see the Function Wizard.
When you click in the Formula bar on (in) a nested function (or just move the cursor to it) (used as an argument) the Function wizard will show you the nested formula, it's arguments and there values.

One very simple way is to highlight the argument in the formula bar and hit F9 to resolve the argument (ie see what values it results in).

Depends which version of Excel you have.

1. Select the cell with the complex formula.

2a (Excel 2007). Formulas ribbon tab|Evaluate Formula (in the Formula Auditing group)

or

2b (Earlier versions). Tools|Formula Auditing|Evaluate formula

3. Keep clicking the 'Evaluate' button. Each section will be underlined then evaluated.
