Hey all

I have a sheet with a first name in "A", a last name in "B" and monies paid in "E". Can someone help me put a total in say "G". some of the names reoccur in A and B and some are only there once but either way I need a total. It has to look in A and B because I might have a John Jones and a Phil Jones. Thanks everyone.

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.
Try SUMIFS, e.g. if you want a total for John Jones

=SUMIFS(E:E,A:A,"John",B:B,"Jones")

You can do the same with the name in cells, so if you have John in H2 and Jones in J2

=SUMIFS(E:E,A:A,H2,B:B,J2)
