I have a workbook that says it has an external reference to another workbook, however I can't find the cell that has the external reference in a formula. Does anyone know how to find the cell which is using the external reference?

There are heaps of help finding these things try searching on external references. Anyway finding them can be tricky. Try searching (Edit Find) for the file name one sheet at a time.

Look in range names Insert Name Define

Look in macro sheets

Look in hidden sheets

Presumably you want to get rid of it (otherwise you wouldn't want to find it.) save as the wrokbook to another name and copy pastespecial values one then check edit links until the link is not recorded at least then you'll know which sheet it's on.
