I have address data stored in Excel. Everytime we add a new customer, we add the address to this list. Is there a way to transfer this data to an Access table? And possibly weekly update to the same table.

Or! each of our salesman have these addresses in Outlook. Could I do the same thing? I don't want to transfer duplicates each time though. Is there code or a way to do this easily?

OH YEAH! and have it on a button or something, that It will update regularly!

Thank You,
Michael

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
Can't you just create, in Access, a link to the data in Excel?

If the data is well formed then Access will treat it as a table.

Thought of that. We have salesman that have data on laptops also. They are in the office once a week were they can come in and update.
Ijust wanted a way for them to come in, hit a button and it adds the data to our access data.

Hi Michael, yes all those things are possible but they may not be that simple.

Outlook
When you add a client there will be certain data you require, so the data to be appended will need to take the same form. Just taking it out of Outlook may not work well as Outlook has certain address fields and your Access data would need to align with it. Im not sure you can tell when a contact was added so the whole lot would probably be exported and a process to remove duplicates would be required.

Excel
Excel has some built in tools for importing data, but not much in the way of exporting. Custom SQL code would be required to connect to the database and append the data, and the data in Excel should be arranged in the same format as required by the table.

You can purchase programs that can do this for you, but if you want help here you will have to be willing to do some coding yourself.

I know in excel you can get external data. Then use Data Refresh as needed. There is no reverse process out there? Or code I could write to take me there?

No, you will require tailored code based upon what fields you have in your database and what data type they require.
