Hello All,
Is there a way to transform a cell's fill color into some sort of data?

(I've inherited a bunch of worksheets where each cell has a number value and then the fill color says what the value is for.....the previous person then counted the values by hand and put them in another spread sheet o_O . )

(I didn't have any luck googling for this....all I get is going in the other direction with conditional formatting)

Thanks,
Alex

Hey,

You can access the fill colour with VBA using Interior.ColorIndex

For example:
MsgBox Range("A1").Interior.ColorIndex
Will return a message box of A1's fill colour. You can then use this in IF statements etc to convert the data in to whatever you want.
