I have cells containing dates and initials (3/5/09 jd).
I need to remove the space and initials.

Please advise...thanks!!

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().

How about:

=left(a1,len(a1)-3)

Or if it is the same initials or just a couple you could use find and repalce to find the space and initials and repalce with nothing.

Hope that helps.

Hi, assuming the initials may vary and the position of the space due to the length of the date part, try this

=LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1)-1)

hope this helps
