Trouble copying worksheet

I have an intermittent problem copying an entire worksheet from one workbook to another, including into a new workbook. I can cut, but not copy the worksheet. Workbook and worksheet protection is off and permission is set to unrestricted access. This only occurs in some workbooks. In some workbooks, I have been able to copy for years, then the capability disappears then I can never copy again from that workbook. This is driving me crazy and I cannot seem to find any answers on the web. Please help!!!

Windows XP, Excel 2003 (I know, I need to upgrade)

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
Thanks for the quick response. On the Tools - Share Workbook tab, "Allow changes by more than one user ......" is not checked. Is this what you are referring to?

Basically nothing. I go to "Edit" - "Move or Copy Sheet" - check "Create a Copy" - select "New Book" and click "OK".

A new tab quickly appears in the taskbar then immediately disappears - like it wants to create a new sheet but the action is somehow canceled.

Sorry, I don't know why that would happen, unless there is some VBA code that deletes the new workbook.
