When I use the add this data to the data model in a excel table it will no longer give me the option to group fields. Does anyone know a way around this?
I have a table that has a lot of duplicates that can not be removed by using the remove duplicate option due to the source of the data. What I have done is convert it into a table then summarize with a pivot table and check off the add this data to the data model box. Then in the PV table I use distinct count on the field that I am counting. However because this data is generated daily and more data will always be added I would like to group the date in the PV table as a filter to see it as a monthly display.
The problem is when I use the add this data to the data model when creating the PV table it takes away my option to group. When I do not use this feature I can group the date but no longer have the ability to get a distinct count of the data.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?
