Trunc Text In Cell

If I have data in a csv file with cells that have data larger than 255 - how can I trunc to less than 255 to do a copy paste into an excel file, using a macro ?

I don't want all the data in the excel file.

I think the truncation will have to happen after it is pasted into Excel. How many columns of data do you have and are all the columns subject to being greater than 255 characters and if not, which ones?
