I am exporting a .csv file from Excel in a MAC, to a Microsoft based server. When the file is transferred, it creates a temporary file in the destination folder, starting with a period then an underscore.

I want to prevent the creation of this temporary file. How do I switch of the option to create temporary files in the MAC?

Thank you.

Peter

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Hi Peter,

I don't think it's a temporary file. It's a while since I used MacOS but Macs used (and I think they still do) split files into 2 forks -- the data fork and the resource fork. The resource fork holds (held) data about which application could open the file (which is why file extensions aren't required on Mac). When you copy the Mac file to Windows the resource fork goes too, and I am pretty sure that's the file with the leading underscore.

Thank you for the guidance. No wonder I couldn't find a simple answer in the help files!

Much appreciated.
