Why, after creating a Function (saving as an "Add-In" file), closing and then reopening xls, does the Function not work. Do I have to save to XLSTART in Program Files for the Function to operate?

Also, is there a way to create a global Function that can be utilized by multiple users (instead of saving Function to C/local drive)?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
After saving as an add-in, have you activated that add-in?

Files in XLSTART are all opened automatically when XL starts, in this case ensuring that the UDF is available - activating the add-in will do the same.

Other than distributing to all users, I don't know of any way to ensure that a particular UDF is available - but distributing as an add-in and having them install and activate the add-in should not be too difficult, should it? An alternative distribution method would be to include the UDF in a module in a particular workbook, but that only works if the function is only required in connection with a particular workbook or template. Alternatively you could include it in all users' Personal.xls workbooks - but that is functionally equivalent to add-in distributin, and less flexible - it is more difficult to update, for instance.
