When I open excel, Several text files that exist in the C:\ directory open with excel and cause error messages that they are not excel files. It looked virul like, but we run Symantec Corp Antiviru. Just in case, I also ran security.symantec.com scan and find no virus or adware files. This just started today. I tried calling MrExcel and paying, but something went wrong and I got no call back.

Thanks for any help...

Excel Facts

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
Go to Tools\Options\General tab and make sure you don't have anything in the blank for "at startup open all files in:"

Delete whatever is there, press OK and try restarting Excel and see if that fixes it.
