Good morning all,

Another question to my esteemed excelers!

I have 30 teams that perform 8 activities each (lots)... which graph/suggestion should I use to show these numbers without looking really cluttered?
See below what I have...

Just for reference I only have about a 1/3 of an A4 sheet to display this on... :-/

Many thanks in advance.

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.

That's a lot of information to convey. I would probably opt for something like a stacked column chart, assuming your primary focus is on illustrating the performance variations among teams, and secondarily to show the relative distribution among activity items. If your interest is on showing how some activity items are in higher demand, then this might not be the preferred option.

I don't know how you want to show the information, or what's important in it. A 3D chart is going to be next to useless. Not sure a stacked column will do it.

My first inclination was to draw a line chart:

But no, that's still pretty cluttered. So using formulas I generated a new data range next to the first, where each column had another 2000 added to it. So the first column was just the values, the second column was the values + 2000, the third column the values + 4000, etc. This gave me some separation between the different series:

With a little formatting, this is pretty good. It seems your values are pretty random, but if there were any patterns in the data, they would be easier to see in this view:

John,

These are all fab ideas, I particularly like the last 'Staggered Chart'... I'd potentially get away with adding data labels on them too... Brilliant, it's just what the doctor ordred!

Thank you!
