Understanding the Message “Workbook contains . . . links that cannot . . .”

I have a relatively new workbook that I’ve been developing for a few weeks mostly without Win 7 problems :devilish:. Then today whenever I open the workbook I started getting the old friend message:
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated.”

When I open the links for editing, I see there are 5 workbook names in the list.

Under the heading “Type” all entries have the value “Worksheet”.

Under “Update” all entries have “A” (which I’m guessing means “Automatic”).

Under “Status” all entries have “OK”. However, when I fiddle around with things, all the ”Status” values change to “Unknown”. If I press the button “Check Status”, all entries that were “Unknown” change back to “OK”.

Jeez, I hate when this happens. Does it strike you that there’s something a little weird about a message that says something is wrong, then shows a status of “OK”?

How do I interpret this message? What does it want me to do? The workbook seems to be functioning OK.
Sid :devilish:

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
Hey, XENOU! You solved my message problem. I went through and cleaned up (deleted and recreated) all my Defined names, and .. Voila! ... the message no longer occurs.

I can't thank you enough, Guy!
