As part of a macro I want to open a file that has a sheet that is set to 'xlSheetVeryHidden' and I would like tot make this sheet visible to enable the macro to copy some of the data on it.

Can this be done as part of a macro or is it something that can only be changed manually?

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
You can do that like this

Code:
Sheets("Sheet1").Visible = xlSheetVisible

although you should not need to do this just to be able to write to the sheet.

It can be done in a macro, add the following afterwards to make it hidden again

Sheets("MySheet").Visible = xlVeryHidden
