Unprotecting a sheet once a text box is selected

Can you unprotect a sheet once a text box is selected and then reprotect it again when it is unselected?

I do not want to use active x text boxes, just normal text boxes.

I have both a text box and an active x text box at the bottom of my spreadsheet. I am trying to get one of them working and then I will delete the other one. I want to protect my sheet but also be able to write in a notes box at the bottom. The box needs to be able to have multiple lines.

If the sheet is not protected, the regular text box works exactly as wanted by expanding as you put more text in. If you protect it, the regular textbox does not expand as you hit enter.

An active x text box allows you to press enter for a new line but the text just scrolls up in the box so you can see the new line but it won't increase in size.

@Logit What do you mean by paste ?
You already have an existing TextBox?
If so, right click on any border of the textbox>>Copy>>select the new location>>Paste

I'm using Excel 2007. When the Insert Popup appears, the Regular Textbox is greyed out. It cannot be selected.

The only textbox that is available to paste onto a sheet in the ActiveX textbox.

Has this feature changed with the most recent versions of Excel ?

Thanks for the pic. I wasn't clear on my request for a pic. Can you post a pic of the INSERT popup that you use to select a REGULAR TEXTBOX ?
My version of Excel has the REGULAR TEXTBOX greyed out.

I understand that Excel 365 permits selecting a Regular Textbox to paste onto a worksheet. Is that available in other versions of Excel
that were released AFTER 2007 ?

Forget the Developer tab. Go to the Insert Tab and look for Textbox in the Text tools section. Click the icon, click the sheet and drag to size you want on the sheet. This has been around at least since Excel 2007 and maybe longer.
