i do want to know, if it is possible to unprotect a workbook using vba.
in the ideal case, the password is written in the vba code (i know how to protect the vba code itself).

i need this for an excel, which i want to update daily (using a macro) so it should be "open" for that update. user still should not be able to change any values inside this workbook.

anyone has an idea?

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
Hi

So do you mean Worksheet protection? You can turn this on and off programmatically:

Code:
ActiveSheet.UnProtect Password:="SomePassword"

'do code on now unprotected worksheet...

Activesheet.Protect Password:="SomePassword"
