Update data into another sheet being used by a user

This is mainly a question as I have no code for this as yet.
is it possible to update data from your sheet into another workbook that is opened by another user. No protected sheets ??

If so can you give me some ideas on how to do it

I dont have an answer I am afraid but wanted to say good question as this could affect a programme you run when there is no one in the files
