I want to protect all my hard work, but I also need the cells to update on change

I have two dropdown boxes that ripple changes throughout a spreadsheet

if i protect the sheet and then try to use the dropdown the excel tells me to bugger off

Do i really have to write an on update macro that uprotects the sheet makes the changes and then protects the sheet again.......

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
You can just UNlock the cells that have the dropdowns...

Format - Cells - Protection - UNcheck "Locked"

Of coarse, you have to do that with the sheet unprotected.

A little more information. Are the cells with the Dropdown locked? If not, the formulas should re-calculate based on these being changed.
Are some of the changes the result of some WorkSheet Event, such as WorkSheet_Change? These will no not run without taking the proper steps.

But, are the changes from formulas or Code? So, maybe
Code:
ActiveSheet.Unprotect "password"
ActiveSheet.Calculate
ActiveSheet.Protect "password"
