Hi,

Can you update a spreadsheet (which has links with the opened spreadsheet) without opening it?

eg is book1.xls is open and book2.xls has a link with book1.xls but is not open, can this be updated without opening book2.xls

Excel Facts

What is the last column in Excel?
Excel columns run from A to Z, AA to AZ, AAA to XFD. The last column is XFD.
Howdy jaypatel,

I hate to sound negative but I believe the answer to your question is no a closed workbook can not update its linked data without being opened.

I am curious however as to the why of your question. Why is it necessary to update a closed workbook if I may ask?

Because....I have a database that updates like 100 different spreadsheets..... and it would be nice updating the spreadsheets without opening them....
