URGENT! Can't use binary constraint in Solver

Please help if you can, this problem is driving me crazy and I need a solution quickly in order to finish a university project!

I am using Solver with a number of constraints. One of these constraints is setting a range of input numbers as a binary number. For some reason, I can't add this constraint: it says "Binary constraint Cell Reference must include only Adjustable Cells". All the other constraints work fine.

The cells only have 0 in them. They are used in a formula for the target cell, so I really don't know why I am having this problem.

I also have had a sample Excel file sent to me from uni to demonstrate how the problem should be structured. It uses the binary constraint just fine. But when I move the range of cells to which it refers to a different location on the worksheet and try to set the binary constraint again, it doesn't work!

Is this a bug?

Many thanks for any help
Andrew
