Seems stupid but watch it:

I run Excel 2002 (from Office XP) on a Windows 2000 pro. Everything works fine until I install a little VB6 homemade program to convert an .xls file into a flat file with a define format.

Now the problem: I, directly from Excel, save a .xls worksheet, no matter what it contain, on my desktop ( so in c:documents and settings...). So there's a little icon on my desktop who represent the file itself, not a shortcut. If I doubleclick on this icon, normaly it will open Excel and load the file.
But it does'nt. It open Excel but when trying to load, show a error message that it Cannot open c:Documents.xls. If I click ok, it came back with Cannot open c:and.xls. If I click ok, it came back with Cannot open C:settings.xls.
So when it try to open the file, it parse all the path where the file is !!!

I try to uninstall office and reinstall it without success.

WHAT'S WRONG, I'M I CRAZY OR WHAT ???

Help me please cause my client absolutly want
is file on the desktop.

Thank you in advance to all of those who will try to resolve this issue.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
ermm just an idea file location is??

Properties the file and see if the path is \winsie32blarblarrrr??? whatever

If so thats XP or in our case NT taking over its configeration issues, might be down to your access rights so you cant write to that location thus the errors.

XP dose this a lot, as i find on VBA writting loads of XLS files over NT network
