Hi, I am trying to use a vlookup to grab a value based upon the color green. Is there a way to reference a cell's value based upon what color it is conditionally formatted as?

Ex:

input: vlookup(for green, range a1:r10, column 5)

output: number value within the green cell

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
If it is conditionally formatted then there is a condition behind the format. Look for the condition. But depending on your case vlookup may not be the way to do it

You first. ;) This is actually a line that should come from me. Please provide more details about your data and conditions.
If you're asking a general question, the short answer is: No, you cannot lookup the cell color.

The condition looks at the highest number in each column and highlights that number's cell green. I need to be able to grab the highest number per column based on the conditional format of green.

You can't lookup the green color, but you can lookup the highest number.
Do you only need the number, or the cell that contains it?

I need the value that is associated with the color because the formula has to apply to a range of columns where each column has a different set of numbers

Can you post some extract of your data and post it here. And try to explain in details what exactly are you trying to accomplish.
