I have the following text in A15

State your financial year that ended on any date between 1 Oct 2009 and 30 Sept 2010

I Would like to use the Mid formula or another formula to extract the following from the text

1) 1 oct 2009 in cell A25
2) 30 Oct 2010 in Cell C 25

Your assistance in this regard will be most appreciated

Given your specific example, then perhaps:

Hi Richard

Thanks for the help, much appreciated. What does 9.9E+307 within the lookup function mean?

It's just a phenomenally big number which is bigger than any possible date that the formula might return (remembering that dates in Excel are stored as non-negative numbers)
