Use text file for Excel data

I think that I can write the code necessary to place the data in the correct cells, but I don't understand how to read the text file and get the data into a variable.

Could you please show an example. I have been looking on this site and have yet to find an example of reading a text file to get data.

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Can you please give more information?

Can't you just open the file with File>Open...?

Because the thread has been split, you are missing the beginning of the conversation.

I am writing a VBA to read a text file and put the information in it into certain cells of certain named sheets in a worksheet.
