Use the same formula but without including hidden cells

I have this formula which works for me:
=AVERAGE(IF($AS10:$AS404=AP2,$AP10:$AP404))
But I want to change it so it will have the same results jut ignoring hidden cells
I tried using what I normally use which is =subtotal(101,...) but it doesn't seem to work.
=SUBTOTAL(101,IF($AS10:$AS404=AP2,$AP10:$AP404))
