User access to Worksheets

I have a multi department Budgeting Model. I would love to allow managers to access it freely without having to break it up and then recomile it into linked workbooks. So I want it all in one workbook I however only want them to see the sheets related to their department.

Does anyone do this. I have tried researching techniques and haven't really found anything. Any suggestions or links to online background greatly appreciated.

I have a template available that will open with all sheets except for one blank one hidden. A userform prompts for a username and password and once entered correctly the sheets that the particular person is allowed to see are unhidden (using the xlVeryHidden instruction). The user rights are assigned by the administrator who can see all sheets and settings. The workbook is quite configurable and contains full instructions to get you started.

You could allow access to sheets based on the logged on UserName:

Use the ReturnUserName() function here:

then....

If ReturnUserName = "DOUG" Then Sheets("Sheet2").Visible = True
If ReturnUserName = "WILL" Then Sheets("Sheet3").Visible = True
