Hi MrExcel,

I am using a code 39 barcode scanner to insert data into an excel spreadsheet. When I scan the data inserts OK, when I scan another barcode, it inserts below the 1st scan in the column. I need it to insert across the row horizontally instead of down the column. Is this possible?

Thanks,
Rfink72

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Welcome rfink72. What little I know about barcode scanners is that you should have a sheet that you can scan what you want the scanner to do. What I believe it should do is enter the code into the scanner (almost like what a macro would do) and reset the scanner to do what you want it to do when you click the scanner button after that point. Check your owners manual or go online and see what they say. YOUTUBE is a good source as well. I hope this helps.
