Using Custom Formatting and not Conditional Formatting to Lower Case the text in a cell .. is even possible?

Hey Excel Gurus,

I am in need of a Custom Formatting that can make the formatted cell show text in Lower Case.

For instance

Feather = feather
Hike = hike
NINJA = ninja

Please bear in mind that I want to use only the Excel's built-in custom formatting, though I know there are formulas and even VBA's to do the job.

you could do =lower( formula in a new column and copy paste as values over the words

Thanks for your suggestion. but I was hoping to get it done in a much eloquent manner, perhaps, with using custom formatting..

After giving it some thought , I think I will be ok with using Conditional Formatting . I know the Excel formula trick.. Could you help me out with conditional formatting please??

I searched the web on this and couldn't get an answer, except that most forums say that it is not possible to do just that.
Best bet here would be to use a font that doesn't use upper case and have conditional formatting run this font on desired cells.

Unfortunately you cannot change the font via CF
