Hi

I have a summary sheet which has Nominal Codes in Column A and Suppliers Names in column B

I have a monthly sheet in which suppliers values are entered under the appropriate code

I would like a formula to enter the monthly figure by using Index Match

I have this formula

=INDEX(NAME,MATCH(1,NAME2=A2)*(NAME3=B2),0)

where the named ranges are in the month sheet and NAME2 and NAME3 are subsets of NAME but assume my construction is incorrect.

Could some one point the way

Many thanks

Rob

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
What do NAME, NAME2 and NAME3 represent?

Maybe if you could post sample dat so we see whats really happening

NAME represents 'July 14'!A1:AP520 which contains nominal codes in row2 suppliers in column 3
NAME2 is row2 of that range and NAME3 column3

Hi

I would like to revisit this as the formula, which is in column C, below works perfectly unless the string referred to as B5 is repeated.

{(=Index('July 14'!A1:AQ500,Match(B5,'July 14'!$B$1:$B$500,0),Match(A5,'July 14'!$A$1:$AQ$1,0))}

Is there a way that I can edit the formula so that if B6 is equal to B5 the formula returns the appropriate value.
