I have a list of numbers that have two decimal places. I have checked that all numbers have maximum of two decimal places by extending the decimal to 30 places and all digits past the second decimal show as zero. when I use SUM to add these numbers the value shows as a two-digit value as expected. But if I extend the decimal places on the solution it shows a '2' in the ninth decimal place. Anyone know what I am missing here? I have done some trial and error sums to try to locate the culprit unsuccessfully as I get different results.

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Id imagine its to do with floating point arithmetic if you want to have a read about it. Use a round function around your sum if you want to stick to 2 decimal places.

Thanks Steve the fish. That makes sense. I have a macro setup to display the value of the sum and it shows as the value to the ninth decimal. Do you know how I would show the value as just the second decimal? The macro I have just shows variable of "Debit = Cells(18, 10).value" - with the sum amount in cells(18,10).
