I have a spreadsheet where one cell contains an hourly wage ($20) and another cell contains an amount of time, formatted as HH:MM:SS. I.e.:

Cell A1: 20
Cell A2: 01:30:00

I want to be able to enter a formula in another cell to get the correct result for those two values when multiplied, i.e. $30.

I know I could just enter 1.5 for the time, but we want to keep the time-formatted display and be able to calculate to the minute, i.e. the value could be somthing like 1:37:00.

Can this be done?

TIA!

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Try this

=A1*A2*24

And format as Number.
