I have a file that I update on a weekly basis. There is a form to run vbcode and there are 16 hidden worksheets. There are three pivot tables that I refresh weekly with updated data that is placed in three of the hidden worksheets. Nothing else changes. The file has grown to 24,085 KB for no apparent reason. Is there a way for me to reduce the file size without starting from scratch. (Similar to a compact and repair in access).

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().

O, dear marleydog,

filesizeproblems? do a search here for "filesize"

delete sheets one by one on a copy of the workbook
save after each delete and check the filesize
you'll problably find the "flipping sheet"
in the worst case you'll have to make this one again

tip: save your work often with new names
after some hours of work you can delete the intermediate versions when you see there are no problems

I'm saving this way:
name 050102 1234
name 050102 1242
name 050102 1249
next day
name 050103 0912
name 050103 0924

regards and good luck,
Erik

I've also found that disabling macros and saving the workbook often has a drastic impact on file size in some situations.

I found the problem sheet. I deleted it and the file was reduced from 24,085 KB to 3,432 KB. I will just have to redo this sheet.

I tried disabling macros and it did reduce the file size, but it was minimal.

Thank you both for your help!!
