validation of data

I have list of countries with a name range as well list of states separately for each country.

In cell A4, if I select India (using drill down menu using data validation), the cell B4 should list only those states in India using same drill down menu.

for this what should I do.

The above function modified to suit my criteria is giving error. This is reproduced here.

d8 is the data that takes instruments. Based on name, corresponding range of experiments is fetched through vlookup. I hope there will be minor missout.

+OFFSET(Inststart,MATCH(VLOOKUP(D8,cmp,2,FALSE),Inst_exp),0)-1,1,COUNTIF(Inst_exp,VLOOKUP(D8,cmp,2,FALSE),1)

I've been out, just seen your message.

I don't see any syntax error and it's dificcult to check the error if you don't post a clear example with inputs, outputs, the definitions of the names, etc.
