Hello all,

I am currently using the following formula to track variance =IF(I18>0,(I18-I17)/ABS(I18),"")

It works fine as long as there is a value in I18 but when there isnt a value in I18 I want it to just leave a blank cell but instead I keep getting a #VALUE error. I think the problem is that there is a formula in I18 but it doesnt have a value because the formula in I18 is summing values that havent been entered yet.

How do I get the formula to recognise that the cell is blank when there is a formula but no value in it? Argh.

Please help!

Joe,

Excel Facts

Square and cube roots
The =SQRT(25) is a square root. For a cube root, use =125^(1/3). For a fourth root, use =625^(1/4).

Joe,

Try...

=IF(ISNUMBER(1/I18),(I18-I17)/ABS(I18),"")
