I enter the value 22000 in a cell and it shows at 220, truncated the final two zeros. the cell is formated as general with no custom formating. I'm stumped.

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
go to the tools menu, select 'options', select the 'edit' tab, and make sure that fixed decimal is NOT checked. does this solve your problem?

BTW, you'll know that Kevin's recommendation applies if you see "FIX" in the lower right-hand corner of the Status Bar.
