Thanks Amanda

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
I have seen some posts on here regarding reading data from a serial port, however

a lot will depend on the GPS device you have, as you need to fire ascii code sequences at the device to read various bits of data, and indeed if it returns a statndard NMEA sentence or a proprietry string

Hello yes there is lots of info out there - but not exactly what i want - i think some of ots quite advanced! i dont want to use GPS gate because i belive it is a server based solution - i am in rural Australia when i am working, no internet which is why i use a gps. i actually have an access data base for data entry maybe i need to use code behind a button to automate getting data from the gps. i am posting here rather than copying reams of code because i want to learn how to do it rather than copying code i don't understand and therefore cant alter. i am also posting on an access help page at the same time - thanks!
