Hi there,

someone has sent me a workbook which is password protected in VBA. I have a macro that lets me test all my passwords (I forget most of the time) when I am trying to unprotect worksheets protected in excel but this is protected in vba so I cant open the worksheet to run my macro on it. The sender has gone home and I really need toopen it - any ideas?

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
There are several commercial password breakers that will work to hack you into VBA. But you have to pay for them. Or, if the sheets are not protected, why not copy the data to a new workbook and run your macro there. Then copy back if needs be? Furthermore, can you not call the person who knows the password? HTH.

I think we will just have to wait. I am happy to copy the data but it gives a prompt on trying to open the workbook so I am not sure if I can do that.
