Hi, I have a list starting in Cell E7 going down to a user defined length (within column E). The list contains "Test_1" "Test_2" "Test_3" and so on. How would I renumber this list if there were to be one of the rows removed? The auto refill doesn't work, as if the first row (Test_1) is removed then the list starts at "Test_2" which is not what I am after (list should always start with "Test_1" even if "Test_1" is removed). It is only renumbering of column E that I am after and not re ordering the full table.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated,

TIA

try this, select the cell, go into format, select custom format and use "Test_"#

Thanks for your reply, I thought there would be a bit of code that I could add into a module to do this? I'm just not great at forming the code :)

that just goes on the cell, shows through leaving the number as a plain number with some text as defined. give it a little try on a clean book
