Learning Access or know somebody that wants to? This lesson focuses on building Tables and Relationships in Microsoft Access.

The most important part of an Access database is the structure ... Tables, Fields, and Relationships. In this lesson, starting with the 3 tables created in "Learn Access -3- Build a Database", data is entered, including key values. 7 more tables are created, some from scratch and others by copying and modifying ... and some things to pay attention to when you copy.

Relationships are built as tables are designed. Good layout of the Relationships diagram helps to quickly see what a database is tracking and how information is related. Learn Access by focusing on the structure first ... the rest is downhill when this is done right.

This free video lesson shows how to:

- Create new tables and modify structure of existing tables.

- Build Relationships with Referential Integrity.

- Layout the Relationships Diagram.

- Add Tracking Fields to your tables ... very easy to automatically store the date and time a record was added by using the Now() function as the Default Value for a field.

- Create an append query to specify autonumber values.

- Use an InputMask to display Phone numbers with symbols.

- Switch between Tabbed Documents and Overlapping Windows.

- Collapse the ribbon to make more space.

- Drag from the Navigation Pane.

- Use icons on a customized Quick Access Toolbar to Hide Columns, Switch Windows, and more.

- How to Set and Turn off Subdatasheet.

- How to track of dates when you only know part of the value.

- Work fast with shortcut keys such as F2 to toggle selecting a whole field and its insertion point.
