I'm trying to create a sheet that only shows Colums A:C and rows 1:30.

All other cells outside of that range should not be shown, nor be able to be selected. This would also include the Column letters and Row numbers.

I am trying to duplicate what Peter Noneley has done with his Excel Function Dictionary from www.xlfdic.com

Similar to this:

All cells outside of the above range do not even have the Col Ref or Row Ref. they are just colored a background color.

I've tried looking in Options for settings but can't find what I need.

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
Easiest is to just select column D (in the col reference), press shift, arrow to the right. Hide the columns.

Same approach for the rows you want to hide.

Hello Nalani,

  • Select column "D" to the last column on the right (CTRL+SHIFT+RightArrow).
  • Right Click in the highlighted area to bring up the context menu.
  • Click Hide

You can also hide hide rows 31 on the same way. Just use CTRL+CLICK+DownArrow. You need to protect the sheet to prevent users from unhiding the columns and rows.

Before you protect the worksheet, select the cells the users will be able to change, if any, and unlock them.

  • Right Click in the selected cells and bring up the context menu.
  • Click on Format Cells...
  • Click on the Protection tab
  • Click the checkbox Locked. Clicking a second time will set it.

Thanks to you also Leith

As wigi kind of beat you to the draw in jogging my mind, it should have been a "no brainer".

And yes, thank you for the "reminder" to do the appropriate Protection procedures for the sheet.

As I also noticed that Peter Nonely had done on the refered link.

Side Note: I'm not trying to alter Peter's Workbook, I just like the way he did it. And I'm trying to use the same concept for what I'm doing.
