Hi

I want to check my formulas by seeing the values instead of the cell references.

For example in cell a1 there is 5 and in cell b1 there is 6.
In cell c1 i have the fomula =a1+b1

I want to view that cell as = 5+6

Does anyone know a shortcut to do this?

Thanks
Nickels

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
Hi

Go to cell C1, and in the formula bar highlight the A1, then press F9. Using your example, this will convert the A1 in the formula to 5. Do the same thing with the B1. If you want to keep the numbers, then press enter. If you want to retain the formula as it stands, then press esc.

cool

thanks, thats great Do you know if you convert all the references in the cell at one time or whether you can only do it one by one?

Thanks

UP to you how much of the formula you grab and debug. If you had grabbed the entire formula, then you would have had 11 as the result.

If you mean can you highlight the entire formula and have each part of it converted separately, then no - it will evaluate the entire portion selected and give the final output for the selected part.
